MACHINES ROOM ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISKS AND RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

BY PURCHASING A DROP IN MACHINES ROOM MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION I AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:

I understand that using the machinery in Machines Room carries an inherent risk of bodily injury, including, in extreme cases, loss of life. I agree to indemnify, defend, hold harmless and release from all liability Machines Room, Machines Room staff, Clear Village, Clear Village staff and board of trustees for ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE RESULTING FROM PHYSICAL OR MENTAL INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE arising from my use of Machines Room.

I FURTHER AGREE TO ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Safety – You are responsible for your own safety, and for knowing how to work without hurting people or damaging machines. You must be extremely careful to always follow correct procedures when operating machines. When working alongside other members, be vigilant at all times of those around you and the machines/tools you’re working with. If in doubt, ask a member of staff, or check the reading materials provided.
  • Security – Always ensure that, whenever you leave, even for 5 minutes, you fully lock both front and back doors of Machines Room. When you are done for the day, lock these doors AND the chain locks on the metal swing doors. Your belongings are not covered by Machines Room insurance – we recommend taking out a personal insurance policy. It is also NOT permitted to bring any non-members with you on site to use the machines.
  • Cleaning up – Please clear up after yourself and leave the workspace as you would like to find it. Failure to do so may involve your access to the Machines Room being refused.
  • Operations – Always report damage to machines or missing parts to Machines Room staff as soon as possible so they can be fixed. Do not attempt any repairs yourself. Clean machines after use.
  • Most of our machines are for digital fabrication. This means that we use computers and CAD software to run the machines. A basic understanding of computers is needed for this. We do not have a requirement to teach you basic computing skills, therefore it is the user’s responsibility to learn at a different time should you not be computer savvy.
  • Photos taken may be used for promotional purposes.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND, and by purchasing my membership subscription I voluntarily accept and agree to, this “Acknowledgment of Risks and Release, Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement”, and agree that no oral representation, agreements, or inducements, apart from the foregoing written agreement, have been made.
